TORONTO – Chris Rainey and Jeremiah Johnson scored touchdowns in the fourth quarter to help the BC Lions defeat the Toronto Argonauts 28-15 on Friday night.
Jonathon Jennings joined Rainey for eight yards before finding Nick Moore in the end zone when he converted two points.
Johnson gave the Lions (1-1) a 26-15 lead with less than five minutes to play. He made a three-yard run for a major only three games after Ronnie Yell recovered a fumble from James Wilder’s son. The Lions added two points on a safety touchdown.
Ricky Ray propelled the Argonauts (1-1) to a 15-10 lead when he secured a four-yard touchdown pass to Armanti Edwards in the first seconds of the fourth quarter. The home team missed the two-point convert in the next game.
Lion kicker Ty Long gave the lead 10-6 to his training at 4:48 of the third quarter when he scored 29 yards. Long finished the encounter with three placements, one convert and two singles.
Lirim Hajrullahu, the Argonauts kicker, won three placements.
The two defenses were dominant in the confrontation. The Lions limited their opponents to 142 yards while the Argonauts managed four sacks on the quarterback, an interception and recovered able. fum
